Addition Statement Sums Without Carry
In statement sum we are given a statement. We have to analyse the statement and then take appropriate action.
Following steps are required to solve the statement
1. Read the statement carefully
2. Find the values that are given
3. Find the quantity which is required
4. Then perform the process to reach the desired result.
Let us consider the following example;
Riya has 24 apples and her mother gave her 21 apples more. How many apples she has altogether?
1. We will first analyse the statement
2. We will find the values that are given
In the question it is given that
Riya has 24 apples and her mother gave her 21 apples more
So, No. of apples Riya had = 24
No. of apples given by her mother = 21
3. We will find the quantity which is required
In the question it is asked that
How many apples she has altogether?
To find number of apples she has altogether.
We will perform addition as we are supposed to find the no. of apples she has altogether.
24 + 21 = ?
We will perform the required operation
Hence Riya has 45 apples altogether.
